My Design Process
My instructional design process for projects utilize the ADDIE or SAM model, depending on the preference of the organization. Below, I have outlined a high level overview of the steps that I would employ while designing and developing a training course.
Initial Analysis
During the initial analysis phase, I define the project by identifying the issues, target audience, and establish the goals and outcomes. This is typically achieved through a needs analysis to fully understand the learning gaps. With a better understanding, I can begin to map out a plan of action to achieve the desired changes.
Design
During this phase, I design the project based on the client needs and duration. I begin to structure and build content-related items for the training course. This is typically done through design documents and storyboards (for longer courses). I work to ensure that the learning objectives align while using adult learning theories to ensure information retention and application.
Development
During the development phase, I turn the client needs and desired learning outcomes into reality by building the training course in Articulate Storyline 360 or Articulate Rise 360. With feedback from SME's and stakeholders, I make adjustments to the developed training as needed, often going through Alpha, Beta, and Gold.
